General Accounting Associate

General Purpose and Scope (Summary):
This position is responsible for the loan level reconciliation of all escrow account balances, MI and loan payments receivable, stale dated check disbursement follow-up and assisting with general accounting duties including but not limited to posting to the general ledger, preparing check request and as the accounting and servicing department liaison.
Responsibilities/Functions:
- Download the general ledger detail for the escrow, MI and 1st Pmt accounts.
- Determine loan account status and research and cure all differences.
- Notify Servicing of any issues requiring their attention and follow-up.
- Daily certification of the accuracy of escrow balances for loans scheduled for sale to Fannie or Freddie
- Maintain a listing of all originations and reconcile general ledger posting for interest and fees to HUD Settlement Statements
- Update said list with all data needed to generate annual 1098 reports.
- Generate monthly loan level reports including UPB outstanding and Escrow balances to support MSR calculations
- Post monthly servicing fees earned to the general ledger
- Reconcile sub-servicer monthly invoice to loan boarding, payment and other activity
- Review sub-servicer’s monthly bank account reconciliations.
- Monthly calculation of our cumulative escrow liability and initiate transfers to and from the Operating Account to true-up the escrow account to said calculation.
- Post to AMB as necessary.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Prefer an above average Excel user with ability to create and maintain complex Excel databases
- Ability to use a variety of business software applications used in the mortgage industry
Education and Experience:
- A business degree is desirable but not necessary; alternatively a high school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years related experience is preferred
- Prior accounting, servicing, and/or mortgage industry experience is a plus
